How to find the best yard sales near you this weekend

Updated September 30, 2026

The best finds go in the first hour. Here's how regular yard-salers find the good sales, plan a route, and get there before everyone else.

Look the night before

Most sales are posted Wednesday to Friday. Check the map on Friday evening, when nearly every sale for the weekend is up, and pick the ones worth the drive.

Search for the item, not the sale

Searching listings for "crib", "drill", "canning jars" or "vinyl" finds the sales that have what you want. Estate and moving sales usually have the most, and multi-family and street sales let you hit several homes with one stop.

Plan one route

Choose your stops, enter where you're starting, and let the route planner order them so you're not driving back and forth across town. Put the sale with the thing you want most first.

Yard sale etiquette

  • Respect the posted start time unless the listing says early birds are welcome.
  • Park legally and never block a driveway.
  • Bring small bills and coins. Paying with a $50 for a $1 item empties the seller's float.
  • Make fair offers, and be friendly — sellers give the best deals to people they like.

Missed it?

Sellers can post their leftovers on Last Call until Friday, with photos and prices. You message the seller and pay when you pick up — never send money first.
